When the Ruins Fell

It has been two years since the war ended... and ever since the government destroyed their enemies the Ur Chavina Pustini people, everyone has gotten used to the idea of peace. But what if their enemies aren’t as defeated as they thought?

The base that the government bombed wasn’t as full of enemies as they hoped, and now an angry remnant of the UCP is ready to get revenge for their fallen people.

Two years ago, a man with no memory crawled out of the Desert. Having made up an identity for him to claim, that same man is now being promoted to the rank of Agent in the Continent Security Agency, the government’s special army.

Using the frightening abilities he has retained, the man called Hunt blends in with the people of The Great Continent, fooling all but one person; himself. As he begins a search for the man he used to be, he receives a note telling him that someone knows who he is.

Should he continue ignoring his past, an increasingly difficult thing to do, or face it and discover things anyone else would be quick to bury?

But the questions only multiply, haunting him. Who sent the note? What do they want? Who was he before he lost all of his memories? What happened to him that made him lose them? And why is an assassin sabotaging everything around him?

Hi! I'm Dara!!!

Dara Dudley is a new author who intends to write in multiple genres, including medieval fantasy, action, spy thrillers, and mysteries. This is her first published work.

In her free time, Dara enjoys various hobbies, such as watching and critiquing movies with her family, solving puzzles, researching, and participating in many competitive outdoor activities, including multiple shooting sports.

With her imagination and keen sense of logic working overtime, she draws on her life experiences and fascination with guns and survival to craft her stories. She also finds inspiration in a blend of movies, books, music, and people that she enjoys, and uses it to write her books.

Why I Write

When I was a kid (around 4 or 5, I think) I liked to tell stories with dolls, markers, Legos, silverware, and pretty much ANYTHING you could pretend was a person with their own society of inanimate objects. After a while, I started just making up stories without the objects. When I realized that I could keep the stories going instead of just making a new one every time, a whole new world opened, and my first big story took shape. I never published it, but ever since that day, writing a book seemed more possible. When I discovered the KWN writing class, I made a whole new story, which I intend to continue by pulling a Star Wars and making a prequel and a sequel.

God has gifted me with a creative mind, and I like to share it with the world, as I believe he intended for me to do.

I haven't yet considered what kind of books I would want to write professionally, but right now I’m just getting into the habit of writing by making stories that I would want to read. I like to take themes that I’ve noticed in my favorite movies, books, and songs and write a book containing those themes. When the Ruins Fell is one such book.

I don’t know about you but I have read so many books that are good in theory (rounded characters, good plot, amazing worldbuilding, a strong antagonist, all the action you can dream of), but I’ve been left feeling uninterested, bored, and ambivalent towards the whole story. I'm always left asking: Why? Why did this happen? Why is it important? Why should I care? Odd isn’t it, you can have the most amazing storyline but if readers don’t care they aren’t going to be interested. Why? Well...

“NICKIE!” Megan roared before the door into Nicole’s office burst open, slamming into the wall and rattling. Nicole jolted, scrambling out of her sleeping bag, snapped wide awake now. She slapped a hand onto the top of her desk and pulled herself up enough to peer over it— “Nickie!” Megan snapped, hands gripping the same desk as she leaned on it and glared down at the other author. “AH!” Nicole yelped, flinching back and falling into the chair. The seat dropped her, unwilling to be involved,...

Authors brains are so helpfully… unhelpful sometimes. *huffs and proceeds to shove my article at you* Okay, so, let's start out with what started the decision which is what I'm gonna say in just a minute… well.. No, it’d be what I'm about to write in just a minute…— anyway, basically the thing that led to my consideration of the decision I mentioned above. Theme. Okay, theme is… theme is… alot. I’ve been struggling to wrap my brain around how it works and how to implement it ever since i...
