LAUNCH DAY FOR THE AFTERMATH BOOK 3

Y’all. I think its literally been less than a year since I bought and read Brigitte Cromey’s “The Shattered Ones” and “In The Unbreaking”

The two books that, along with Outsiders, really kickstarted a new portion of life for me. Giving a lot of hope and filling me with a desire to look for the beautiful things in life, to realize just how much beauty was surrounding me on the day to day, and quit longing for something more than the perfection that God has placed me in.

Anyways.

All that to say. I read and reviewed books one and two… and you can find those reviews…

starts tossing stuff out of my jumble-drawer labeled “Authors Collective”

Well look at dat. Twas a Substackian post:

The Shattered Ones!!!Gil Kissling Author·Mar 20

Its seems like half a million of my posts recently have been book reviews. Its kinda funny. Kinda ridiculous, I never know what to think about it. But that’s ok. I’ve consumed some darn good fiction recently...

And lets see if we can’t dig up the review for book two…

Dystopian: The Genre, The Angst, I WANT MORE HOPE.Gil Kissling Author·Apr 10

Righto. My dystopian article. NGL I kinda forgot that review and article were one and the same…. Actually… The Aftermath will be a big exemplary series in my next dystopian article… which is coming soon…. As Ive done almost all of my homework.

Im reading the prequels from Maze Runner and Divergent, Catching Fire, Mockingjay, Fahrenheit 451 and 1984. And then I’ll be ready for my next article… and still leave myself room for a few more objective reviews for series like…

The Arc of a Scythe by Neil Schusterman

Unwound by Neil Schusterman

The Selection by Kiera Cass

Swipe by Evan Angler

Red Rain by Rachel Newhouse

A Time to Die by Nadine Brandes

Chaos Grid by Lyndsey Lewellen

among others… I think thats a pretty basic list… but I still have a pile

I’m back! More lessons in cooking… Here we go. Last time we heard about smashing out main characters into who they start out to be, well, now we get to meet a bit of the butter that softens them up. Think of the closest person to you…think of someone you look up to…think of someone who drives you nuts…think of a person you aspire to be like…now think of the people your are around everyday whether you like it or not(yes, I'm talking about siblings, parents, coworkers and classmate). Okay, now...

To Write Clean, or to Not Write Clean? A Writer’s Guide to Navigating the Clean Fiction Debate You’ve probably seen it across the internet. Substack, Bookstagram, and Booktok is all hopping with the same buzzword— clean fiction. A concept usually coined by the Christian homeschool community, now up for debate in almost every genre from Middle Grade Adventure to romance novels. Basically, the idea of books without “content”. Books without “bad things” like language or sex. Books that can be...
