Hello, I’m Esthrousalem J. Storylark!
I’m a YAHWIT (a young woman in training) with a million dreams keeping me awake most nights. I’m currently sixteen, and I live in wild Alaska, though my home city, Anchorage, isn’t at all wild… Of course, with my five siblings and parents, our family probably makes it wild sometimes. I love, Bible studies, they are a happy place where my peace is found in my Lord and savior, and music helps keep my focus. I enjoy Volleyball very much, and I attend a fun Aikido class. I love drawing and reading and especially enjoy playing with kids. I hope to become a full-time author someday, but for now am happy with this one book I’ve published
Peace has been disrupted. A bloodthirsty desert tribe well known as the Skruits have captured the Jolidean range and now rule tyrannically, terrorizing the people of Jolidene.
After failing to save and protect those she held dear, Horizon Willems and her remaining friend, Jack Winterce, learn to survive in the dangers of their rulers. The life Horizon once knew is gone; every decision is life or death, or she and Jack might face the same fates their families did.
But a series of events forces her to lead the Jolidean rebellion in attempt to restore what was lost. Always seeming a step behind the Skruits, and barely stumbling through leading her fellow Jolideans, and newfound friends, Horizon begins questioning her abilities.
Can she keep them alive and lead them to victory, or will they all die? Or worse, they die while she lives with the burning knowledge of her weakness?
Works in Progress
The Leviticus
Leviticai was never a country loved and visited. Forget trying to get in, once you were in, you'd practically drown in their superstitious laws.
Quin Rosemary, a fourteen-year-old girl well known as a “troublemaker” understands this well. Having been born and raised there, she’s reminded just about every day, she knows the laws well. She also knows that these laws weren't how things were in the beginning. Otherwise, she’s sure her record of breaking them would have much worse consequences than just trials and marks on her citizen’s record.
Of course she is extremely young. And the daughter of an Algerinian man whose people are considered giants even if he’s at a short seven and a half feet tall compared to his people. And she does have ten older brothers...
But that makes little difference. Her goal in life is to live and figure out what’s really going on, one law at a time…
That mindset changes when she comes across something she's not meant to have. Something that involves the detailed plans for the deaths of the King and Princess of Abeque, an ally country. Not only does she hold the key to the war plans, but she also knows that King Andrew is using spies from other countries to pick out those who hold most threat to his laws. He may not even be who he claims…
Quin has to run. If she stays, she could die and the lives of those around her will be crushed. But can she make it through the mountain border of Leviticai and travers the dangers of an unknown world beyond her home country?
Rhyme and Reason
The rhyme! (Or something like one…) :
Could be a riddle, or a song on a fiddle,
Maybe it’s a spark, shining in the dark?
A bit of a shadow, thrown out with a show…
Tis really an outlet, nearly like a spoutlet
Make way for water to flow,
Tastes like chocolate? Maybe in an hour-let?(shakes head)
There’s much more time to grow…
To God I pray the glory will be, may He take what His it is
A light shining for all to see
What bits of work, let them be His always and only,
May Jesus take the honor and glory.
And while that is mulled over and criticized, I’ll jump into Reason!
The lack of Christian books has bothered me many a time and even caused me to hate reading for a while, so I’d like to provide good clean books that show who our Lord and Savior is and give a thrilling…? Nice?...an adventure of sorts too.
With the books I write I hope to always show God in some way: how He’s always present even when you can’t feel Him, or that He’s given a purpose even when it all seems chaotic and unorganized and so on.
I’d like people to see who Yahweh is and what His message is.
I’d also very much like to reignite the love of reading, by taking people on fantastical adventures to faraway places. C. S. Lewis (I’m very confidant 🧐) said that children [and adults alike] already go through life every day, so why write about everyday stuff when they already go through it? Why not give them an escape instead?
Yes, that was extremely paraphrased and no I do not in any way disagree with books based on everyday life. In fact, I applaud the authors who are able to write accurate books meant to make people more aware or show something about life from a different perspective or help appreciate something. I’ve simply found that is not my style of writing.
My content does feature some pretty graphic scenes that involve the deaths of many characters, and they get somewhat gory at times. I don’t want those scenes to hinder the reading, but they are there, so: Please proceed with caution and keep that in mind as you go.
