Authors Collective: Nicole Soto

“Hollywood isn’t going to like this!” — ??? , the Author of ‘Do It For The Fame’.

Welcome to the world of the unique, odd, and thoughtful! Also known as this author’s mind! You’re more than welcome to stay, relax (while you can), and enjoy the stories I have to tell! Or don’t, no one is forcing you to stay. Now that you’re sitting, or standing if that’s your thing, let me introduce myself!

Nicole Soto, at your story telling services! Born and raised in a small town, which for some reason has far too many subways and basically nothing else. Most of my time is spent writing, drawing, and exploring just about every artistic medium there is. My writing started simple and silly, more for fun than anything, until I discovered something. Writing isn’t just writing, and reading shouldn’t be just reading. Reading should make you think, shift your mind and eyes into seeing the world at a different angle; once you’re done with a book something should have changed. After all, you can never read a book for the first time twice, and there’s a reason for that. I work to address an array of moral issues; ranging from emotional, to physical, and even societal.

My very first book is Do It For The Fame, which is yet to be released as it’s currently being burned by the editors to properly ‘cook it’ so to speak. But, you all get a little sneak peek into what it’s about, or as some call it, the blurb!

Do it For the Fame!!!!

It’s been 4 years; 48 months, 208 weeks, or 1460 days since 16-year-old Emeric Doe was found in the Swiss Alps with frostbite and amnesia before being sent to the Zuhause Für Die Kinder Orphanage. The scars of his past still haunt his body and mind, leaving his hands permanently numb and a majority of his life a mystery to all, seemingly even himself. Ever since he arrived, he’s been nothing but ill-tempered and snarky, forcing away most staff members and all the other children.

But when Fame Broadcasting and Talent Agency, a world-renowned and beloved company, announces a new season of Mountain Escape, Emeric Doe snaps. Now, fixated on finding the people behind the company that he knows are connected to his past, he leaves Switzerland. Joined by Dorian, the only orphanage staffer he trusts, and three friends from his forsaken past he travels across the globe to America with one goal in mind; exposing Fame’s underbelly and tearing away their mask. Because if no one stops Fame, more innocent people will fall to the mantra ‘do it for the fame’.

Breathtaking, but...

...I also have one more present for you all, though, I’m not going to let you all unwrap it just yet so, here it is.

I don’t know about you but I have read so many books that are good in theory (rounded characters, good plot, amazing worldbuilding, a strong antagonist, all the action you can dream of), but I’ve been left feeling uninterested, bored, and ambivalent towards the whole story. I'm always left asking: Why? Why did this happen? Why is it important? Why should I care? Odd isn’t it, you can have the most amazing storyline but if readers don’t care they aren’t going to be interested. Why? Well...

“NICKIE!” Megan roared before the door into Nicole’s office burst open, slamming into the wall and rattling. Nicole jolted, scrambling out of her sleeping bag, snapped wide awake now. She slapped a hand onto the top of her desk and pulled herself up enough to peer over it— “Nickie!” Megan snapped, hands gripping the same desk as she leaned on it and glared down at the other author. “AH!” Nicole yelped, flinching back and falling into the chair. The seat dropped her, unwilling to be involved,...

Authors brains are so helpfully… unhelpful sometimes. *huffs and proceeds to shove my article at you* Okay, so, let's start out with what started the decision which is what I'm gonna say in just a minute… well.. No, it’d be what I'm about to write in just a minute…— anyway, basically the thing that led to my consideration of the decision I mentioned above. Theme. Okay, theme is… theme is… alot. I’ve been struggling to wrap my brain around how it works and how to implement it ever since i...
